How Disco Fred Earns a Living

Having earned his degree in Environmental Engineering, Disco Fred finds himself selling beds. Yes Disco Fred is Fred of Fred's Beds. How did this come to be you ask. Well simply you can take the boy out of the island but not the island out of the boy. Upon graduation from college his father made a deal with Fred he could not refuse. That he could have the business in the Florida Keys on the condition that he wouldn't call with problems. In return his father promised not to call him asking for money. This way neither would ever have to worry about answering the phone. Neither decision was hard to make, Fred Sr. was through with the states, and Disco Fred loved living in the keys, the city life with a desk job just did not appeal to him. Yet he was not ready to move to Belize just yet. Within 1 year of running Fred's Beds Disco Fred purchased a building in Big Coppitt expanding into the lower keys with a second location. In addition to Fred's Beds, Fred also has a tourist store. This store began when at the age of nine Fred wanted to sell lemonade out in front of his fathers store. Fred Sr. being the astute business man that he is, instructed his son to sell the conch shells that he and his mother had found. So that he did, with a cart that his father built for him, and the shells his mother helped him find and clean our young Fred set of to sell sea shells by the seashore. Low and behold code enforcement cam by and harassed this nine year old boy saying that he needed an occupational license, and a permanent location to sell his shells (you can see why Disco Fred's father has since given up on the keys). Highly irate Fred Sr. gave a portion of his shopping center and obtained an occupational license for his son for the sheer principle of the matter. When the shells began to start selling the Roth family took notice and invested more money into the venture, with his mother running the gift shop, and Fred Jr. working the counter when he wasn't in school the little shell shop grew from 200ft^2 to 3000ft^2. With a sigh of relief Disco Fred's mother turned the gift shop over to her son upon his graduation who has had more than ample experience with the trade.

People ask Disco Fred why he chose to move back to the keys and sell beds rather than pursue his career in his degree. His answer to that is,"That people work their whole lives to live down here and have what I have. I wake up in the morning and see the Atlantic Ocean, I go to work and I overlook the Gulf of Mexico. I live in paradise, I am happy, I don't regret my decision one bit. Yeah the work is hard and the responsibilities are many but it is rewarding as well."

Fred's Freshman year at college found him running a Fred's Beds out of the Super Flea in Melbourne. Realizing it was to much work he gave the business up the following year!
